HOW THE BOARD STORE STARTED...
Back in 2006 Herzog's (a clothing store we owned in downtown St. Catharines) had some empty space and we were looking for a way to fill it. After trying to lease the space for a year and getting know where fast I looked at what was missing in the area and I realized there was no snowboard specific store in St. Catharines. So planning to open in 2007 I though this a a no brainer and I made an appointment with Burton Snowboards thinking I will open a Burton snowboard store. Well, after we placed an order for clothing the Burton rep informs me that we can't order snowboards until we have been open for 3 years. So after controlling my anxiety after hearing this news. I have 2 boys Ian and Jaime that are skiing and 1 boy Daniel who was snowboarding at that time. I called Daniel and asked him what brand of snowboards does he think we should buy. He coincidently was snowboarding on the half pipe when I called and he immediately rattled off 5 brands. Daniel was right about every brand he suggested and at the ripe old age of 14 I made Daniel brand manager of The Board Store.
